Here are a few predictions for the OSCE
Introduction
Please remember that these are my hunches. It is harder to predict the OSCE than the Written as they don't really release the OSCE Exams. However here are my predictions...... But first..... I want to approach this in two ways. I know some of you are saying about now.."Just give us the predictions!". Not so fast. The next thing I will teach you will allow you to do two things:
A few things we discussed on the day that you should remember:
- Make your own predictions
- Fill the gaps in ion your knowledge
A few things we discussed on the day that you should remember:
- They don't release all the exams now as there are a limited number of topics
- Usually if its been on one year, the same topic won't be on the next. THE KEY is to lock at the area asked eg., trauma- What's been asked in trauma?- thus my prediction of 'pregnancy in trauma' as a topic.
- They are always trying to stay to catch up to what were doing.
- Last time we gave predictions for examination medicine and told everyone how they must use an actor, or pretend to have a deficit, even then there are a limited number of examinations they can ask
- They examiners thought this through and have decided that they can simply ask you for what your examination would be for a condition eg, they asked about leg weakness
- There are about 7-8 areas that they always ask.
What we covered at the OSCE
Below are the list of areas we covered at the OSCE. It's important for you to re-read the topics and decide what will be the areas asked
|
Now lets look at what Will showed us and then have some fun with it.

Here is a hint. Think about areas such as:
- resuscitation
- communication
- examination
- paediatrics
- etc.... think about these yourself.
PREDICTIONS
AFTER LOOKING AT THE SECTIONS
An example of the way I look at these is:
They have asked elderly trauma, pelvic trauma, thorax trauma. Based on these i'm thinking:
Pregnancy in trauma is a good one, so is Paediatric trauma(although not much different to ask here.
